Kevin & Robin are a couple of my favorite Pinterest Pinners.  And why wouldn’t they be?  They like all the same stuff I like…geekery, sandwiches, hipsters, vintage campers, star trek and interior design with a vintage twist.  Which makes them seem like pretty fun people if you ask me.  I follow them on Pinterest…You should, too!

Happy Earth Day!

So the sun is shining and the weather is sweet.  Plus it’s Earth Day.  And of course it was also 4/20 this weekend.  All of which make it the perfect day for some Bob Marley Jammin.

Enjoy,  Julie

Plus Signs

Plus Signs option 3

Have you noticed?  The plus sign is popping up all over the place lately.  This is mainly due to Pia Wallen, who designed the lovely blanket pictured here.

But it’s not just all about the blanket.  There’s other stuff, too.

Like this Pia Wallen Tray

Or these Urban Walls Plus Sign Decals

And this simple little throw pillow.

The plus sign, or cross as some like to refer to it as, is great for adding a punch to your interior if you’re not so much into bold color.  It’s graphic and strong, yet light and serene.  What do you think?  Would you add the plus sign to  your decor?

Mad Men is Back!

mad men quotes season 6

Yes, my favorite show is finally back tomorrow night.  Truth be told, I probably won’t get to watch it until Monday night via cable “on demand” , so I might have to take a leave of absence from all show spoiler technology until Tuesday.

The above graphic is one that I actually put together before last season started for my Velvet & Shag blog.  I thought it would be fun to look back at some of my favorite quotes from seasons past.

Are you going to watch tomorrow night?  How will you celebrate?

Here are a few Mad Men inspired links that should help hold you over until showtime:

Friday Favorites

Here are five of my favorite interior design inspirations this week. Enjoy!

image c/o Style by Emily Henderson & edited by me.

I’m pretty much good when it comes to teal blue and anything designed by Emily Henderson.

image c/o Old Brand New

This bright sunny yellow kitchen is a reminder that good weather and happy outdoor fun is on its way.

image c/o The Beautiful Home

Who wouldn’t love a cozy nook bed with a view of the stars at night?

image c/o Apartment Therapy

I must admit, the portrait is a little frightening, but the general concept of modern baroque mixed with a mid century ball chair and dark wood paneling totally does it for me.

image c/o Simply Grove

Pink, yellow, grey and black is a new color combination to me that I probably would not have thought of on my own.  I 110% approve.

Have a great weekend!  And one more thing…Mad Men!  Mad Men!  Mad Men!  That is all.

Einstein Commercial Love – DSW

Not everyone loves TV commercials, me included.  But when they’re really good, you’ve just got to give respect where respect is due.

These DSW commercials are perfect as far as I’m concerned.  They sort of pay homage to one of my favorite eras, the 60’s, but in a playful  modern way.  And they also are so light and bright and festive.  They really propel you into the fun sunny mood of Spring and Summer.

And I’m definitely ready for Spring and Summer!

Happy Tuesday,

Julie

Music Monday

A little music to get you movin’ on Monday…

I’ll admit this video for Breezeblocks by Alt-J is a little disarming, but the song is sure catchy.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Fun Fonts Friday

Just click on the images above to source them via my Love Letters Pinterest Board.

A font can really establish the heart and soul of a brand, a product or just the general message that you are trying to get across.

I find the ones above to be so creative and inspiring that I just had to pin them!

Happy Friday to you all!

Mood Board – Manly Bachelor Pad Loft

OB-manly bachelor pad loft paint 2

Sometimes I like to design mood boards just for fun.  I designed this one today using the Olioboard website. I’ve classified this room as “manly”, but in truth, I would be pleased as punch to live here, too.  And I’m decidely not a man.  Other ways this room might be classified include industrial, modern, and eclectic.

Copy this look by adding:

a brown leather chesterfield sofa,

a black leather Eames lounge chair,

a blue velvet Milo Baughman style chair with shiny chrome frame,

a black and white cowhide rug,

an industrial style round coffee table,

and industrial vintage floor and table lamps.

Cheers to decorating!
